How To Be A Virtual Leader

Successfully managing remote teams

Globalization, technology, hot-desking and work-from-home have all meant a growing need to get things done through virtual teams. How to lead remotely will become the next big leadership challenge.

Virtual leadership used to be the skill of being able to influence, inspire, direct and motivate despite the tyranny of geographical distance but with the advent of hot-desking and disparate workplaces even within the one city, being able to lead with less face to face contact time is becoming a business imperative.

Our “how to be a virtual leader” program will assist your leaders to find answers as they grapple with the 21st Century challenges of leading remotely:

Who will benefit:

Any manager or leader who must influence and direct staff, contractors, and freelancers who work from different locations – suburb, city, state or country

What will they learn:

  • How to inspire despite the tyranny of distance
  • How to drive performance and keep your finger on the pulse even when you barely see your staff
  • How to build teamwork and team collaboration when the team rarely get together
  • How to build community amongst team members despite no “water cooler” moments!
  • How to tackle dispersed and distributed leadership especially in a crisis

What will they take away:

  • Building communication through social networking and e-technology tools
  • Communicating even when you can’t read the body language
  • Coaching for results using e-learning strategies
  • The mechanics of great virtual meetings and conferences
  • When to do 1:1s versus when to have team conversations
  • Evening out the playing field – respecting time-zones, preparation times and force of numbers
  • Igniting desire with engaging pre-work

This will be an interactive facilitation with plenty of reflection upon:

  • What is already working in your virtual leadership (building on current strengths)
  • What isn’t working in your virtual leadership (resolving weak spots)
  • Agreed strategies/actions to apply (key action take aways to apply in the workplace)

What next?

“How To Be a Virtual Leader” can be facilitated as either a half or one day program with or without follow-up group coaching. For more details contact Tessa on 0418 639 379 or tessa@marshallcoaching.com.au
